It's kind of hard not to want to eat at this place. The location is just phenomenal. Right at the end of the pier of Santa Monica. The view is gorgeous. The breeze is unbeatable. Although crowded, still somewhat quiet and personal. Unfortunately, the food isn't the best. The service was good and the waiter we had was nice. The food was just plain. We have tacos, beans/rice and chips/salsa. Everything was just very dull and plain. On top of all that, our meal was double charged on my visa gift card. Don't think it was the waiters fault. Something went wrong inside. It's been 3 days since this event and I've yet to see the refund. I doubt I will get the refund seeing it was on my gift card. I don't find myself going back to this restaurant.

My mom and I stopped incor lunch. The wait wasn't too long, about 20-25 min. We got to sit outside, which I highly suggest because then you can people watch and see the water. We both ordered cocktails, which were less than desirable. My mother ordered the Bon-Bon and I ordered the Jalisco Flower. Hers was way better then mine for sure. For lunch we ordered the table-side guacamole and the red snapper creviche. The table side guacamole was pretty good. I ended up having to add lemon juice to it after our waitress made it because it was lacking something. The ceviche was just ok,nothing stellar to write home about. The food overall was just ok. I had way better guacamole and ceviche at other places for the same prices.

We stopped here with a group 9 including 4 kids. There was no wait and we were seated right away. 4 stars for the stunning views of the santa monica pier and the pacific ocean and the friendly hostess and waiters. Yelp gave me a complementary guacamole for my first check-in but I was dissapointed how bland it was. We left it mostly uneaten. I'd recommend the lovers drink. The food was average. Also, there is a lady walking around taking pictures and don't be surprised spending an extra $20 on the add on sales from the nice pictures that will be made for you. If you dont want the pictures, just say No. If you try to be nice and take the bait, you'll be spending an extra 10 minutes choosing pictures and paying for them on top of your meal.

Took my family out on Labor Day here for the first time and it was amazing used the yelp check in to get the table side guacamole that they do in front of you and was just so good everyone loved it. Our waiter Jason was so attentive to everyone the whole time. Planning on coming back

Wow what a disappointment. I would've thought being on the end of the pier was such an exclusive location it would be hard not to have decent food. However, I was surprised. I should've checked yelp first. The drinks poured light and the food is pedestrian and put together at the last minute. There's no marination, seasoning, or taste of any kind. Very disappointing.

I'm usually pretty skeptical of restaurants that draw one in because of location, for example at the top of a tall building, end of a pier, etc. But, Mariasol has proven me wrong. They offer very good Mexican fare at fairly reasonable prices, for the location :-). My daughter and I sat outside with a good view of the Pacific, the only real annoyance is the birds, but what are you gonna do.....

I enjoyed the food but the service was terrible. Was sitting outside with my family and friends. The waiter brought our drinks out and then the food came. No one checked on us until over 10 minutes after everyone was finished. I went to the restroom and back and the plates still were not cleared. No one came by to refill our drinks which were empty right after the food came. No one even came by to check on us. I asked a bus boy who finally took our plates to talk to the manager. Another 10 minutes and no one came. I got the attention of a waitress and asked again. Finally a manager came. I told him the food was great then I told him what I said here. He ran the ticket. No refund, not even on the tea. I didn't ask for one and no compensation was offered which is fine but I most likely won't be going back. I've been a waiter in the past and to not check on your table even once during the meal is uncalled for. It's the very least you have to do to make sure everyone has refills.

Food was fresh and prompt. Staff was friendly and professional. They even take complementary photos. Sit outside viewing the ocean. Plus, we checked in and recieved table guacamole.

I honestly don't understand why this place doesn't have a 5 star rating. The location is perfect and the food is great. We walked in on a Saturday and were told the wait would be 25-30 minutes, for a prime location of Santa Monica Pier that didn't surprise me. We we're lucky enough to snag a bar spot right away however. The service was fast friendly, the chips and salsa were delicious and the margaritas were perfect. A lot of people on Yelp had downplayed the food but I found the grilled chicken fajitas to be wonderful and my girlfriend's fish tacos were equally as good. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting the Santa Monica Pier. Their food is great, their service is friendly and most of all their tequila selection at the bar is diverse ;)

I am writing this review while sitting on the patio of the restaurant drinking a Corona. I came here alone for some beers and chips and salsa. The waiter upon finding out I didn't want food has given me the worst treatment ever. He has not asked me if I need anything and actually gave me a shitty comment when I said just drinks. I can't believe someone would treat a customer like this. Sorry my spending is not as much as others. This is horrible treatment! Shame on you!! I actually am a good tipper, but you will get only one tip from me - don't base your service on what people order or what they look like.

We had a very good experience. We were very hungry from a long trip and decided to come here for some Mexican food. We sat outside to enjoy the beautiful California weather. Service was ok took a little while to get drinks and utensils but, the food was very delicious & BIG! So, no biggie. Must try for sure.

First time here it was about a 30 minute wait which was expected on a Saturday . Got the free guacamole with the yelp check in. Food was ok I ordered the beef burrito . Service was good loved our waiter Everado he was fabulous .

My family and I were looking forward to have good meal, but the waiters are unorganized and rude. They were looking at each other like not wanting to be there. They took too long to cleanup a table that we requested and very unprofessional in all spect. Management needs to do a better job and train them to take care of their customers. We did not have the opportunity to see the menu to order, they were dragging their feet to do anything. We will never go back to this place. It was one of the worst experiences we ever had.

I'm genuinely surprised to see so many negative reviews of this place. I was there a few days ago with some visiting family and we had a lovely time!! Food: 3 stars. Your typical run of the mill Mexican food. Chips and salsa, we ordered the carne Asada fajitas and they were pretty good. The viva Mexico burrito was a little on the bland side, but I almost never order chicken at a Mexican place because it's usually really dry and boring tasting, but the carne Asada was really good. Drinks: 4 stars. Decent mojito. I asked the bartender for something sweet and fresh and he made me a cucumber lime margarita that was delicious!!! Highly recommend! Service: 5 stars!!! Yeah we had about a 15 min wait or so, but we went to the bar and hung out. When our table was ready we sat down and had such a great waiter, Moises! He was attentive, funny and the food came out within 15 min after ordering!! Location: 5 Stars! Right at the end of the pier, a beautiful ocean view! What else could you ask for!

I would have given it one star but added an extra for the good service. Wasn't impressed with the soup nor cocktail but the atmosphere was definitely beautiful. I had a table facing the beach.

This restaurant is not worth it. There's a reason the rating is so low. We waited for 40 minutes for mediocre food. It was seriously so hard to eat, it was gross. The service is ok, it's not the best. The food was so bland and so disgusting. What's worse is the the food is overly priced! Unless you like overly price bland food then you should go otherwise, let me save you a few dollars and your stomach. Walk around and go elsewhere.

  • Donny M.

Great service by our server, Moises, who checked on us at least every five minutes during our one hour plus visit. Even the general manger, Orlando, stopped by our table to check in. Moises made our guacamole table side, perfecto. Margaritas were great in a "proper" margarita glass. I've lived in Southern California for 13 years, this is the best service I've had since I moved here except for the Ritz Carlton, which should have superior service.

Had an amazing time at the bar. Our bartender were able to give us customized drink orders. Double thumbs up!

Attitude much?? Stopped by for a drink on the patio with a friend. It was a slow afternoon on Dec. 24th. To be quite honest, just wanted to grab a drink and get the free guac that comes with a check-in. We got sat on the patio (like we wanted) and the waited for anyone to come to us. A food runner dropped off some chips and dip and told us a server will be right there. The server comes and asks if we want drinks. My friend tried to order a beer, the server said they don't have it. He tried to order another, he said they don't have that one either! At this point we're like "Well, since the menu is clearly wrong, what do you have?!"... he gave us like 3 options and he chose out of that. I decided to try the mango margarita, per a yelpcommendation. (btw, I thought it was too sweet and didn't really like it) He then asked if we wanted food. (I skimmed through the reviews and already knew that I wasn't about to eat here) I asked about the free guacamole, to which he said, we BOTH had to order an entree to get the free guac. I said OK, and told him we'll just be having drinks and the chips/salsa. He didn't seem too happy about that. He came by again in a bit to see if we had changed out mind about the food. We had not. That was pretty much the last time he stopped by. We asked one of the employees for a refill of the chips/salsa and they brought it but it definitely wasn't a welcoming vibe. All in all, I doubt I'll be back. But if I do, I'll tell them up front that I'm not eating so they don't expect it and aren't disappointed... I guess...

Average customer service. The spicy Bloody Mary was delicious and the pineapple infused Mai Tai was phenomenal. The food was alright. I wouldn't go back for the food I'd definitely go back for the drinks and atmosphere. The beach side scenery and drinks would be the only reason I come back. Overall good experience :)

Great food! Exceptional service, there was no wait which was great and our server Everardo made great food and drink recommendations. This was my first time here, and I will definitely be returning in the near future. Our server made our night!

Came here around 4:30 on July 7th to relax and get a drink but I couldn't really relax when I hear two of the waiters (blonde waiter named Andrew and a brunette named Christopher) talking really nasty about customers. They were making really crude comments about all the women that walked by them. Not only were they making these comments, they weren't even working. They just sat around like lazy bums. Won't be coming here to relax again

I ate here today thinking that it would be a great Mexican restaurant to eat at on the pier. I was wrong. The wait wasn't bad 20mins for two. The services and food after that was horrible. Slow slow slow waiter (Sydney) and the food was bland and flavorless. Chipotle would have been much better and cheaper. THANKS!

Came here yesterday since me and my bf were around the area and looking for a nice place to eat. Wait was 30 minutes which isn't bad. While waiting to be seated one of the diners leaving the restaurant clearly told us "the food is nasty" me and my bf looked at each other but still decided to try it for ourselves. The employees were nice except for 1 who gave me dirty looks i couldn't get here name Since she was wearing a sweater i just know she was Chinese. We were finally seated we ordered some drinks, i got a watermelon margarita which was delicious definitely recommend. My bf got a tamarindo margarita which was not as good. Food was o.k got tacos and enchilada plate with rice and beans, taco was nasty! Enchilada, rice and beans were ehhh. 3 stars for the drinks and view. Don't come here if you want delicious food.

I had the pleasure of eating here last night. I'd like to say I was 100% happy with my visit. The service was excellent, the food is amazing. If I'm ever in the are again I'm for sure going to stop by.

We have come.to this restaurant over a dozen times but for some reason the prices fluctuate A LOT!!! Had lunch there yesterday and were charged $30 for a margarita. Our waiter was a bit awkward by asking strange questions. We ordered carnitas and he asked "pork carnitas, right?" And we asked if there was another kind and he said no... When we got our high chair for our toddler they didn't bother checking to notice that it was scorching hot because they left it out in the sun. When we asked for certain items (dipping sauce, lemons, salt pepper) they never bothered bringing it even though they kept coming around asking if we needed anything. We asked 3 times....

The Lobsters are from Santa Monica seafood and they are amazing. $50 and you can pick it out. The chicken salad could not be better. The view is outstanding.

  • Eugene G.

We sat out on the patio for a great view of the ocean and people watching. Service was friendly and fast. We tried the chicken taco which was bland and veggie burrito which turned out to be decent. However, them pigeons though were nasty and kept landing on our table, close to our food! One managed to go under our table and flew around, stuck, touching our legs and stuff. To the management team: Invest in some kind of netting to keep the birds out; seems like a quickie solution.

It's at the end of the pier and we were seated at the patio facing the ocean in the afternoon. There's some artist singing indie pop at the pier. The whole ambiance was just great! I'd definitely come again later. We only ordered drink. My sis's watermelon margarita is fruity and refreshing, my jalapeno margarita is ok, not really spicy, but still good. They have free chips and home made salsa. As a salsa lover, theirs is ok, I'd like it to be a bit less watery but I guess it's fine. Saw lots of people ordering the avacado thing, like a salad, it looks good and they make it next to you, gonna try it next time when I'm there.

The restaurant is at the end of the pier and has a nice view if you sit outside. Bring a jacket sitting outside in the warm weather can get chilly. The service and food is good.

    (3)
  • Kim J.

You're definite there for the view. I would of rated it two stars but the waiters were good and attentive. The food itself was a 1. Very bland and tasted like it came out of the can. The best part of the plate I ordered was the beans.

  • Renae V.

This place is terrible. I should have hastened the reviews but luckily the ocean almost made up for the terrible food (it was cold) and lacked flavor. I got the Baja Tacos and they had one small piece each with a huge pile of cabbage on them. My friend got the chicken fajitas and they also lacked what's that called? FLAVOR. Now, let's talk service. Took quite awhile for the server to come to our table and although he was pleasant, the first rule is get drinks on the table ASAP. Ad I was writing this review, the manager stopped by the table I explained to her that I was disappointed with our experience. I shared it with her because from a prime real estate location she should know the service was terrible and my food was cold. She was very surprised to hear that and was very friendly. She comped my meal which is not what I had wanted but I am thrilled that I ahead at least had the opportunity to share my distaste with the overall experience. This place could be great but the food lacked flavor. They need a new cook.

  • Laurie V.

The only reason there are three stars is for the service and view. The waiters were very attentive and quick. The view of the ocean and pier were beautiful. People watching on the boardwalk is the best. The food and prices are where the NO stars come in. The prices were outrageous for what exactly comes on your plate. It looks and tastes like everything came from a bag, thrown on a plate and microwaved. I could have gone to any of the fast food places on the pier, paid a lot less, tastier food and had the same view. Yuck! Don't waste your $$$.

    (3)
  • Katie V.

The service was crap. Endless disappointment and horrible results. -I order horchata that tasted horrible and almost like a different drink. And when I told them to cancel it still showed up on the check. - Wanted lobster but shot down and unable to get any. -took forever to bring drink -10 min for the walcamole that didn't have garlic -I finally decided for the tilapia, I got refried beans but they brought black beans. -wanted lemon and received lime... - asked for extra shrimps on fajitas and failed to get more than 3 extra for 12 dollars!!

    (2)
  • Priscilla F.

Ok so the scenery is very nice , wonderful for those who like sight seeing. The enchiladas were good.. The service wasn't so good .. We had to hunt the servers down for whatever we wanted .. 5 stars for view and food, 1 star for service, averaged out to 3 stars in my opinion :) and eatch out for the pigeon feathers flying around your food when ur sitting outside ..

I was really hesitant about coming to this restaurant after reading all the negative reviews... But we decided to give it a try since we wanted to see the sunset and walk the pier. Well let me start off by saying, I'm glad we went. Although the wait was quite long we got to see the sunset before getting seated. Our table location was great, view of the beach and pier. Everado (I think that was his name, sorry) our server was great! Food was okay. It's a nice restaurant. Oh and try the tamarindo Margarita & chicken fajitas . Overall our experience was good and nothing like the reviews I read.

  • Steve A.

Great chips and salsa and you can't beat the location and view! The food was fairly basic but also fairly priced for being on the Santa Monica Pier. They were running a 45 minute wait and while we saw about 15 open tables consistently, waited 45 minutes. Other than this, it's worth a visit if in the area. Not the best Mexican food you will ever eat but the location makes it worth the trip!

    (4)
  • Kristin M.

I was not too thrilled with this establishment. The service was really crappy and the food was sub par. We redeemed our free table side guacamole and it too was over seasoned and not that good. We were hoping for better quality Mexican food and left disappointed.

  • Jason M.

Phenomenal view and large drinks. All we got for food was chips and guacamole. The chips were cold and didnt taste fresh and took forever to get our severs attention to order more drinks. Looking at other peoples main dishes it looked pretty average and cookie cutter.

The selling point of Mariasol is the view of the Santa Monica Pier. That's about it. The largest margarita is $30. You can mix flavors. It's bigger than the size of my head, and I am told frequently I have a big head. Plenty of people were ordering that so I assume that is what they're known for The service was nice but terrifically slow. It took us nearly 30 minutes to get our chips and salsa. Even then, the chips were hard and stale. Getting refills and the salsa also took another 10 minutes. There's also a sweet old couple that goes around to tables and sing songs in Spanish to people.

    (2)
  • M L.

ATROCIOUS! Honestly. Like many people I think, we were drawn to Mariasol because of the location. That I do agree, cannot be beat. Even the outside patio in the evening looked wonderful. But once you sit down, its a whole different story. I am not exaggerating when I say that it was by far, the WORST meal I have EVER had. We have never-ever returned a plate but my husband had the Enchiladas Mariscos and I had the Burrito Mariscos and there was ZERO flavor in both meals (as if though it had been defrosted). Even the tortillas were soggy and rubbery! Our kids ordered chicken strips and fries which were standard, and a good thing because they ended up sharing with us.

  • Jeffrey S.

Really good Mexican food! Cold beer! Margaritas! I had the Viva Mexico and it was great!! Our server was very attentive!! This place could probably charge more and get away with it based on location alone, but it was reasonable. I'd go again, next time we're in town.

The view was great - our waiter on 7/20/2015 wasn't real helpful. The food was delicious and the ambiance was fun and inviting. The ocean view was worth it! The prices were good considering you are paying for the view and the portions were OK.

    (4)
  • Melanie J.

Great service....food was typical mexican exactly what we felt like.....Good prices for a restaurant on the pier. Plus if you check in on Yelp you get a bowl of guacamole made in front of you for free.

I love coming to this place! It's awesome! Colorful and the staff are very friendly! They make the best piña colada's and the food is so tasty! The salad bowl is the best!

  • Glen K.

At the end of a lonely pier sat a lonely, tumble-down taco shack. Except it wasn't this pier, and Mariasol definitely is not a shack. It is a fairly-large, nicely-decorated restaurant, thank you very much. Considering the location, I expected the prices to be high. I was pleasantly surprised to find the price of my Boardwalk Enchiladas (shredded beef) to be only $10.95. Sodas, though, are $2.75. Javier, our server, was pleasant and competent. OK, about the food ... The salsa that came with the chips is pretty spicy. I liked it, but be aware of that before you shovel a bunch in your mouth. I thought the enchiladas, though tasty, could have used a little bit of salsa roja to moisten them up a bit. The frijoles negros (- black beans, gringo!) were excellent and the rice was perfectly fluffy. My wife liked her enchilada-relleno combo and our two teenage girls from the Czech Republic had the Chicken Caesar Salads. Another thing they have going here is there is a photographer who visits each table to take your picture. You don't have to buy them, but you may like to have one or more as mementos of the occasion. You can get a simple postcard for free, but the big ones are $15 each or three for $30. All in all, it was a good choice. The girls took a couple of spins on the roller coaster and kept everything down, we picked up a couple of churros for dessert from the vendor on the pier and we all thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

Good food and great service! Our waiter Chris was very helpful to some out-of-towners looking for things to do in the area!

  • Marc D.

Lets start it off with, Photographers coming to your table to tell us they were doing a promotion for Mariasol, asked if they could use our photo to be in their promotion. Sure. Well our dinner was then interrupted by the classic sell of here are some photos you should buy. We stopped in after a tiring day to relax, have a drink and a meal in some beautiful scenery. Now onto the food. The food was excellent, the nachos with carne asada were perfect!! shredded beef enchiladas were wonderful,

  • Albert G.

Where do I begin? The service wasn't horrible but the people here clearly hate their jobs and I don't blame them. The drinks are WAY overpriced and the Sandia Margarita I ordered was horribly sweet! Stay clear of this jolly rancher tasting diabetes causing drink. Shortly after our drinks arrived so did the chips and salsa which where ok. The waiters began to lower the deck umbrellas but in doing so seagull shit rained upon on which had been stuck and dried up on the umbrellas. It landed on our table and lucky not on our drinks. This place has a good view but even then there is limited seating outside and the rest of the restaurant looks dingy and old. It's a shame that this restaurant isn't kept up and managed better because the location is fantastic. One positive note and why I am giving this place 2 stars is the waiter exchanged my drink for something a bit better and only billed me the difference.

Tourist trap!!!!! Nice view obviously but the food is very mediocre, the ceviche made me sick to my stomach, the chips are stale and the service is so-so.

  • Laura G.

The view is beautiful. The service was good. Our waiter Angel was on top of his game and very friendly. The food definitely could be better though. I ordered a chile relleno and chicken taco combo. The stem of the pepper was not cut off so I almost choked. The black beans were very bland. The tortilla chips too hard. The taco had a nice flavor. My mom enjoyed the enchilada and rice. The prices are like your average sit down Mexican restaurant like El Torito which to me seem pretty reasonable considering Mariasol's location on Santa Monica Pier. My conclusion however is that they keep the prices semi decent by cutting corners with the food and not using the freshest of ingredients. I sat inside and the decor is pleasant. However the PIGEONS INSIDE THE RESTAURANT were not acceptable flying around landing on all the tables that are not even cleaned after. I understand birds on the patio but inside!?! The manager took my dad's chair while getting a table together for the party next to us without even asking if anyone was sitting there. The restrooms were also very dirty. I wouldn't return or recommend coming.

As Fred Armisen would say, "Ay dios mio!" The location is all that Mariasol has going for it. Perched at the end of Santa Monica Pier the view is truly spectacular. I ordered the Carousel Enchiladas and the hubster decided on the Grilled Fish Tacos. The turnaround time after our order was placed was LESS THAN FIVE MINUTES. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate fast service but that's too fast. Our food tasted bland, dry and overcooked. My guess is that the food was either reheated in the microwave or kept in warming trays for hours. And let's not forget about the pigeons circulating the area. I felt like we were reenacting a scene from "The Birds". Overpriced, poor quality food. Mediocre service. Skip Mariasol and head over to Taco Bell Express where at least you don't have to pay an arm and a leg for cheap quality food.

Let me preface this by saying, I'm from Arizona, so I know Mexican food. This was good food, but nothing crazy spectacular. The table side guacamole is super good though. We chose this restaurant because there were so many people at Santa Monica Pier because of the LA Marathon we didn't want to walk somewhere else and then wait for 45 minutes to eat dinner since it was already 7:30 when we got there. We had to wait about 40 minutes, but that left us time to catch a great sunset off the pier. Oddly enough, they don't have buzzers for this restaurant. We were told it would be a 40 minute wait so we walked around and came back right at 40 minutes and they were like oh we just called your name, good thing you showed up. Get buzzers guys, then people don't have to stand within shouting distance. Just a thought. Overall, good food, GREAT guacamole, decent service.

Had a wonderful afternoon here with Mosies treating us to a wonderful meal and fabulous service! The table side Guacamole is to die for! I come to this restaurant every time I visit my friend in Santa Monica and I always ask for Mosies. Great time and great food always - it never fails!

Came here for lunch with my friends and had a great time! Yes, it IS a little touristy, but it's at the end of the pier and that's to be expected. The quantity and the quality of the food was superb. Definitely one of the most flavorful mexican experiences I've ever had. The food portions were huge and I recommend trying the nachos for appetizers. I also ordered a glass of horchata and added tequila and Kailua; excellent flexibility with the menu. It CAN be a crowded there at times and so I'd be prepared for maybe a 15-20 minute wait and if you can call-in ahead, I'd do so. I definitely recommend this spot for great Mexican food and a cool Cali atmosphere.

That's a great place go and have dinner. I came into this establishment and immediately greeted with a smile. The host took, Fernando, took extra care of me and placed me in a great location outside where I can had clear view of the fun and hear live music. My server, Andrew, gave me the run down of the menu and gave me great recommendations! I went with the tacos yum yum yum!!! Three types of meats! I check in on yelp and got this guacamole dip thing that was huge!! This place is awesome! I highly recommend this restaurant to all my friends and family! Two thumb up !!! Great job team. Happy holidays yall Vinnieboi out!

Talk about a disappointment. I live in Southern California so I can have the luxury of finding great Mexican food in every city I travel to. Let me tell you, this isn't it! It is right up there with being some of the worst Mexican food I have ever eaten in my entire life. The food was awful. I ordered the El Presidente platter. Another words it's an appetizer platter. There were 3 of us and needless to say we didn't finish the plate. Not because there was too much food, but rather it was just that bad. I should have known the food wasn't going to be good when they brought the chips and salsa to the table and they literally looked like the chips came directly from the fryer. They were dripping with grease. I won't even get started on the service. I will just say it's rated right up there with the food. I truly believe this restaurant is banking on its location, not on their food.

No complaints. Jason is the best waiter and makes the tastiest tableside guac in our 5 visits! Had cheese enchiladas again. Love the firm texture of their corn tortilla! Jason suggested the Mega Margarita for 2 of us. Tangy and bright and just enough to share.

I only chose to eat here as the view was SO beautiful. It's right at the end of the Santa Monica Pier. Service was great, our waiter was really sweet. The food wasn't the greatest, it was alright.. but certainly not as bad as others have described. If you are a beachside restaurant lover like me, I'd say it's worth going once!

Visit today with the whole family Marisol Restaurant, we asked to be sit it outside, the host seem to have a problem with that because it was hot outside and not enough umbrellas to cover the sun light. when we walked outside there was 5 tables available with its own umbrella. When we try to order the food the waiter couldn't add chicken in the kids burritos because they only come with cheese in beans I change the order to viva Mexico regular burrito but without onions and tomatoes, the waiter reply sorry we can't, you have to order from the menu the way it is you can't add or take from the order. We immediately asked to speak to the manager. Manager name is Lisa, she automatically came to the table without introducing herself causing a scene about rules and regulation about the food policy. Without hesitation we got out of Marisol Restaurant. If you are allergic to certain food or you agree with me that there's no reason why you should be told how to order your food when you paying for it then this is not the place for you /:

It was my first time but my bf has been here plenty of times. Food is good, Michelada is good, service is great. We'll be back for our free table side guacamole 8D

I visited this place last week. I'm from San Diego and San Diego has phenomenal Mexican food!!! This place was okay. I'm used to really authentic Mexican food so this place didn't meet my standards. The salsa is so mild, not hot in the slightest! The location is amazing and even with all the people, it felt fairly quiet. I did love the view (hence, 3 stars), especially when it started getting dark and the lights on the ferris wheel came on.

Sure, it's touristy. After all, it's on the very end of the pier. But what you have on a perfect weather day is pure awesomeness! Sunshine and view of the water like no other. It's a real mexican restaurant. Not a stand. I got a chicken sombrero something or other. Essentially, a chicken tostada. Tender chicken breast, and the whole shabang...with chips and salsa. It was grand. I'm not sure I would chose to eat here again with the gobs of dining choices off-pier, but for a margarita and chips...sunset...sign me up! I'm not swayed by all the 1 and 2 stars. What I say to that, phlewy!

  • Jackie N.

This place has horrible service. It's located at the end of the pier. Yes that's nice but these people are RUDE. They only brought out three waters because we ordered three waters and we asked for more and they said that we only ordered three waters. Wtf. they do take a picture for you to have to take home. One good thing. Beerita

Not many good things to say about the place. Servers were friendly but extremely confused & clueless. They mixed up orders, gave us the wrong food, & failed to apologize. The food took longer than expected & was definitely not worth the wait. Nothing special about the food, yet it is unnecessarily expensive. Guacamole was okay. It was made on the spot which was pretty cool! I ordered the grilled chicken fajita. Chicken was dry. I asked for it with no beans, but I guess they forgot to take the beans out. The location is amazing. It's a shame that the restaurant itself isn't as amazing.

Service is great! Food is great! Prices... Ehhhh, could be better, but I understand that its at the Santa Monica pier so it'll cost an arm and a leg to rent space there. The sangria comes in a ginormous glass! (See pic) took a pic with dad and they came around and gave us a free postcard sized photo and we bought two others (one for him to take home and the other for me) :) I liked it and will come back again. They have an outdoor patio and a bar. I'll see you there! :)

  • Donna M.

Beautiful location at the end of the Santa Monica pier! It's the perfect spot to side outside, people watch, and have a cocktail or beer. Table side guac was amazing! Very good prices as well - margs were $10-13 and guac was $11.95 (which with a check-in on yelp you can get for free). Only downside was that lots of pigeons tend to fly and roam around near you.

  • Susan S.

The crab enchiladas had to have been stuffed with canned crab. It looked like pink tuna. Not good. The employees here are very nice, though, and that's what made this two stars instead of one star.

  • Cecilia F.

I was very excited to try this out...at the end of the pier and it smelled delicious. Walking in, it was about half full. We were seated 15 mins as I literally waved 3 people down who were too busy watching the futbol game to see. I never got to try the food or even be greated....bummer. We left and nobody noticed.

  • K S.

Terrible food. Old salsa and old guacamole. Terrible service. Took forever. The server smelled and had dirty fingernails. I will not be returning... If I could I would give no stars. Btw we got attacked by pigeons as we waited for the waiter to bring the check.

We are so amazed and pleased!!! We sat outside and it was a bit chilly and they lit the outdoor fireplaces and took amazing care of it!!! Sindy is the best waitress!!! Thank you so much for such a special experience!!!

  • William Y.

This is the best option for food and scenery on the pier! Sidney waited on us, he was fantastic! As first timers from the east coast, he explained their best choices in different categories. The food was great, the prices were very reasonable, especially considering the high price rent they must pay at the end of the pier.

    (5)
  • Kelly L.

The food was pretty much what you expect on a pier but a cute outdoor seating area. As the other reviewers said there are tons of pigeons everywhere. The table side guacamole was by far the highlight of the meal I would def get that if you go. I got the fish tacos but couldnt find too much fish in them

  • Angel H.

Food is decent. Not bad, not great. Prices are great and very affordable. Service is excellent. Ocean views are fantastic. The Cheese Enchiladas have a an unusual tasting sauce I didn't like but the other items are usually pretty good. I've ate here more than a few times. Try it!

Overpriced and flavorless food. The one star is for the view you get. I ordered a michelada and the beer was flat. The salsa was terrible and the chips tasted old. Try another place!

My friend and I felt like being extreme tourists last week in Santa Monica. We headed to the pier, walked around and went for a spin on the Ferris wheel. We got pretty hungry so we decided to eat at MariaSol because duh. Mexican food is everything. So we were asked whether we wanted beach or ocean view seating and also whether we preferred indoor or outdoor seating. We opted for ocean view because we're deep intellects who prefer staring off into miles and miles of blue ocean waves. Also, It was a nice day out, so we also chose to sit outside on the back patio. There was live music on the pier which made the experience much more enjoyable. The menu had a good variety of items and if you stuck to the basics, it was reasonably priced. I got the carnitas plate which was about $12. My friend got the shrimp enchiladas and I believe it was around the same price. The chips are salsa was good but nothing to write home about. It was a thin liquidy salsa and I was craving something chunky so I asked for pico instead. Additional charge! Around $2.00... The food arrived shortly after. The carnitas was very tender and tasted great as did the rice and beans. There was a cup of some sauce on the side that tasted how I imagine diesel would taste. Yuck. Also, the plate came with pico de gallo. Wish our waiter would have told me because I could have avoided ordering the nearly $2 side of it! The meal ended with complimentary Mexican wedding cookies. They were warm, soft and crumbly. The best Mexican wedding cookies we've ever had. We were tempted to buy some but they were a little pricey. We ended up making our own later that night and decided ours were crap. Side note: pigeons on the back patio. I was not about that pigeon life at all. My friend found it entertaining but I didn't. They would just land right on your table! A few times I saw a waiter come out with a spray bottle to drive them away, but that never stopped them. I would definitely refrain from outdoor seating if you don't want pigeons near you or your food. 3 stars: for the view, the tasty carnitas, the speedy service, friendly staff and those TO DIE FOR cookies. I would come back just for those but nothing else.

Great restaurant ! Came here for margaritas and guacamole .. Was not disappointed! Excellent service by Johnny ; really cool to see fresh guacamole made right at the table ! The restaurant has heat lamps and overlooks the ocean outside , which was really neat. Would definitely recommend !

It confuses me to see that this restaurant has 2 1/2 stars. The food was absolutely delicious. Our waiter (D'Angelo) was awesome while serving our table of 5. I mean, we asked him for like 100 things and he was prompt about getting every single item we requested all while being super sweet and keeping a nice smile on his face. This place is going to be one of my favorite new restaurants.

  • Jim P.

Great location. Food was a bit expensive, but I expected that due to the location. Despite the pier being very crowded, we were seated quickly inside and had fast service. Salsa was a bit on thin side, but tasty, and the chips were good. Beer was cold. My wife and I split a carne nacho plate. Very large, including generous avocado and sour cream. Nice memory on the Santa Monica Pier!

Marisol has the best view of the ocean! You can sit either outside or inside and still stare out at the beach while enjoying your food and drinks. They have several different daiquiris, martinis, etc to choose from. The bartenders and servers are super nice too.

This is THE most by far terrible place for customer service. I tried to get a table there around 5:00 o'clock on January 31st but couldn't. I was currently staying at the hilton all the way on the other side of town but decided to make the drive to the Santa Monica just to dine at this place. There was a couple in front of us waiting for their table. As we approached the hostess she asked how many? We answered 4. My wife, my two children and my self. She looked at us and said nope we are at full capacity. What!? We asked for how long and she replied with a "oh God idk, right now people are just waiting for the sunset so no one is moving for a while". I don't want to imply even for one second that this place denied a table to us because we are a diverse couple. I want to add that we were at least 1hr and 15 min. early from the sunset. This place has tables on the other side of the restaurant for sure they weren't waiting for the sunset. I will never give my business to a place like this even if this was the only place on earth to eat. I will haunt and fish my own food before eating here. HORRIBLE.

  • Rene G.

Location isn't everything. The prices are very elevated for the portions. The chicken enchilada plate was med in size. Red sauce was somewhat bland. Rice and beans were....ehh ok. For $11, i think it was a bit much. The shrimp ceviche is small for the price. It looks more like a cocktail than ceviche. The two tostadas were dark, refried and very hard. You're better off eating it with the chips and salsa they serve. By the time we were done eating, we felt super bloated. You'll get hounded by some ladies wanting to take your pictures. One free ad infested picture is what you get as they will try to sell you a hand full of other photos. For the price, we weren't very impressed.

    (2)
  • Whitney F.

You have to get the guacamole! The menu is on the pricey side but well worth it because they give you so much. We had enough leftovers for a second meal. I'll be back!

  • Taylor S.

The location and view are literally the only thing this place has going for it. They've got a captive audience at the Pier, so to speak, and I can only imagine that to be the reason they're still in business. The "service" at the door is shockingly rude. I don't need some sour-faced pissant to argue with me about the name my girlfriend told them to make the reservation under. If they misheard, they should own up to it and move on, not argue with the customer. Really basic stuff, and not that hard to figure out. We were seated only to discover that they had removed their seafood soup from the menu, which was the only reason for Mariasol to even be open in the first place. What a huge waste of time. I will say this. Our hostess gave us very good service, and she deserves credit. The maître d' gave us some of the worst service I've ever experienced at a restaurant.

Great table side guacamole. Great service and kept beverages filled. The only negative was the pigeons underfoot. But it also adds to the ambiance. Give it a try! Great location at the end of the pier.

Slow service. Cranky wooden floors. Food over priced, poor quality. Other than view, thumbs down.

  • Bonnie G.

Prices are high for a mexican restaruant, but I guess you are paying for the view (like everything in So Cal its all about the view) , service is slow and they are probably inthe pocket of the CIty of Santa Monica Parking Bureau. We asked for our check and it took forever to get it. We asked for salsa 3x and it too forever to get it. The drinks say Jalapeno margarita and it comes with crushed chili flakes. Just what I want, crushed chili flakes stuck to my teeth all night. The second one I ordered the cut the top with stem off a Jalapeno and dropped it in the glass. Now I got the scraps. NICE The only good thing was the food was half way decent which is why they got one star. The whole experience was soured by the poor service and the fact we got a $53.00 parking ticket because everything took so long and we were with a handicapped person and 8 minutes late to our parking spot.

    (1)
  • Carlos G.

Ordered the fajitas. Not bad because it's hard to get fajitas wrong. Wish they would have given us more bell peppers and not a mountain of onions. The beans and rice were a bit bland but the guac was really good! Also the servings were a good size.

This great little gem is at the end of Santa Monica Pier, the Margarita's are sensational and the food is sensational. Order the guacamole, they make it at your table to your liking and its the best ever!! The food is well priced and service is excellent.

After reading the bad reviews, we decided to give it a try since it's at the end of the pier. Our server Alejandro was very nice, made sure we got everything we asked for. The food was good, not the best, but still good. Can't beat the view for the food and price. A girl did come and ask to take our picture, told her we weren't interested and that was that. So many people complain about her on the reviews, but if you don't want to be bothered just say so. Any moron should know nothing is free. Glad we took a gamble with this place.

    (4)
  • Steve S.

I'm not sure how this place is still In business ? Maybe because of people like me who forgot to yelp it and assumed It must be good because the nice view it has. Drinks are WAY overpriced. I didn't bother with food but by reading other reviews , I'm glad I didn't try them. I guess they make the money off the tourist.

We were in town for a conference and decided to go to the pier one evening. We had been told about Mariasol but had not made a reservation. The hostess was very kind and assured us she could work us in and get us a table outside on the patio. We ordered margaritas from a very friendly bartender and waited in the bar for just a few minutes before we were seated outside. We received prompt service and had table side guacamole and chips right away while we took in the spectacular view of the pier. They do have a photographer that comes around offering to take your picture. One postcard is free. Other photos can be purchased. I typically don't want to be bothered by this kind if touristy thing during my dinner and conversation with friends, but the pictures turned out great and we now have a group photo to remember our fun night. The girl taking the pictures was very polite and I would say, if you don't want to be bothered, just tell her No Thank You...it's not a big deal like some other reviews have stated. Moises was our server and he absolutely made our night! He was attentive and funny and made great menu recommendations! We had the fajitas and we recommend that you share them with someone!!! The fajita platter is a ton of delicious food and is definitely made for two! We had a great night! When we go to our conference next year we will be back and we will request to sit in Moises' section on the patio!

I was a little afraid to eat at what looked like a major tourist trap: a well-poised, colorful building at the edge of the gaudy Santa Monica pier. I wanted to have a nice last meal before heading to the airport however, so we gave it a chance instead of eating a greasy burger outside in the rain at one of the other tourist stands. I was pleasantly surprised that we were seated quickly, got our orders and drinks in within several minutes, and had time to relax and enjoy the colorful surroundings. The food was average for a high-volume Mexican restaurant. The prices, however, were about 30-40% higher than what you would expect for similar quality; well...fair since you are paying for the view and the location as well. At the end our server vanished into thin air and another guy came to give our check after a little bit of a longer wait, I wish they would have explained what happened but we had to run! A nice place for a view if you have time and money.

I love Mariasol! Good food, great and friendly service, and location, location, location! I've hung with friends here during the summer, and you can't be that combo. We have enjoyed Camacho's Nachos, crab enchiladas, the Mariasol Baja Tacos, and the grilled chicken sombrero salad. Let's not forget our yummy cocktails! Everything was delicious as always. I'm a local and spend quite a bit of time in the area and sure, I go to different restaurants, but Mariasol is by far my go-to when I want tasty eats, smiling service and killer views.

    (5)
  • Benjamin D.

Just had the Baja tacos that were basically grocery store fish stick, still scales on it and super doughy. Told the waiter it was terrible and they took it away and just brought back the check. No manager, no offer of something else. It's like they know it's bad.

  • Drew S.

It gets an A+ for location and view, and maybe a solid B for food. It really is a great place to bring a visitor to LA due to it being out on the pier, and has obviously a great ocean view. The food, it's pretty good. Decent ceviche, tacos, and if I remember, a really good tortilla soup. Pair that up with a cold Pacifico, it's pretty hard to be unhappy in that situation. One thing I could do without? Their amusement park-style photo hawking gig they have going on. Uh, back off, I'm trying to eat and I'm not a tourist.

    (3)
  • Eve C.

The location/view is the only good thing about it. SLOW service and incredibly bland over priced food. How can you do Mexican poorly? I used the restroom on the way out and it was filthy. I shudder to think of what the condition of the kitchen might be...Disappointed.

    (1)
  • Debra S.

After waiting nearly an hour for our meals today, we got up and left. Our server was totally inattentive once we ordered, not once communicating to us about the hold up. My son finally caught his attention and we were told the kitchen was behind because of a Health Inspection. Many meals came out of the kitchen while we were waiting and ignored. Health inspection should not interfere with service. We had a 2 year old with us who was hungry and made a meal out of chips. We are still in disbelief of the horrible service.

Great service! Outside is enjoyable except for the huge pigeon population however to give them credit the staff does their best to keep them away. Must have the tableside guacamole and the Sangria!

Tried this place out for the first time and absolutely hated the service! For the restaurant being on the pier I expected better food and service. From the beginning the hostess was rude and had an attitude. The food was over priced and was not the greatest I for sure would not recommend this place to anyone!

I love, love, love this place! Yes it's pricey but the drinks are truly made with love! The bartender Byron is a true professional and when this place is insane and super crowded, he delivers every drink with a smile. Overall a great place to have a drink and watch the sunset over the ocean!!

  • Dina M.

The only star is for the service! The food is really bad and tasteless. We ordered margaritas but they had no alcohol in them, we had to ask for extra shots.

The most amazing Chicken Tostada Salad anywhere!! (Listed as the Grilled Chicken Sombrero Salad on the menu.) The chicken they use for this is really delicious, totally makes the salad - and seems much better quality than what they use in their quesadillas (but maybe it just tastes better because it's seasoned and barbequed). The rest of the ingredients are also really good quality (especially the avocados) and very tasty - great combination. Make sure they don't forget the corn and olives on the salad! The food does take a while to be prepared - they really need to work on that - but it gives you time to enjoy the scenery. Great service overall - they are very pleasant, always accommodating, but sometimes forget unusual requests (hand wipes). There can be a bit of a wait for tables - but some people don't bother waiting, so you might be called up earlier (20 mins wait rather than 30-40mins). One thing I really hate are the birds on the front and back patios - no, the birds don't belong to Mariasol! They will fly to the tables and attack the food - be it leftovers after people leave or your actual meal while you're seated. The staff try to shoo them away - but it doesn't help. Wish they could get rid of them.

  • Carol S.

Horrible. Staff was ok, but the food was way too expensive for what was given and for the poor quality. It's one of those places out of towners go to because they watch too much t.v. and think the pier is part of Venice based on no logic whatsoever. But if you're about claiming status and are pretentious, this is your place! The Food & Drinks: For it being on the pier, I was not impressed with the seafood one bit. The shrimp was dinky, carnitas were moist but minimal in portion, drinks were weak and had a dish soap after taste, tortillas were like the partially cooked ones you get at Wal-Mart.... I could go on, but my fingers are tired. PS If you go in a big group, they refuse to do separate bills at time of order, but they'll glady take separate payments when they bill arrives. Re. Tard. Not only is Mariasol the Western most restaurant on Route 66, but it's damn good, & THEE best place to see the Sun set over the Pacific. I've had memorable dates here, had a lonely cervesa here, & even shot the last scene of my movie here. The service is great, the food is wonderful, & it's a guaranteed nice evening w/ a special someone.

Not even it's amazing location at the end of the Santa Monica Pier can get me to rate this dump more than ONE STAR. Quite honestly the only reason I'd even give it a star is because of two things. The tableside Guacamole and the very nice wait staff. Otherwise this Mexican restaurant is a total joke. TERRIBLE Mexican food. They should be embarrassed to serve up what they do and call it proper Mexican. And in California of all places, with its abundance of killer Mexican restaurants on every other corner!! I think the only way this place must stay in business is it's perfect location to suck in tourists and take their money!! Stay clear of this dive. Do yourself a favor and grab a Taco Bell on the same pier and save your money for a better experience.

Restaurant has nice seating, on the end of the pier. But mediocre Mexican and overpriced margarita.

Not a place I would go, but was meeting friends. Anyway, we walked in and immediately met Lisa the manager, a hateful woman who needs to quit her job. She treated three groups of people, including me and my friends, like we were there just to annoy her. She fought openly with a sweet waitress who was confused about her hours. EVERYONE was shocked. Didn't stop there. She just walked by me now complaining about customers, who the waiters "needed to get out of the door." They will not let you in any time after 830pm even though their hours go til 9. Do not come here. Total tourist trap that will ruin a good night.

I wouldn't even give this place a star but in order for me to write a review on this place its forcing me to give it at least one. Horrible service!! Beer was flat and had bugs in it, my husband ordered fish tacos and a michilada and got frozen fish and a completely different drink. Why serve frozen food when the ocean is literally right there. Then I ordered some enchiladas that had no flavor what so ever ,rice and beans tasted like can food, and also ordered an horchata. We took a bite of our food and were extremely disappointed. We asked another waiter for the check because our waiter never came back .They picked up our plates that were basically untouched and didn't even bother to ask what was wrong and then got charged for an horchata that never came. Never again

Corn chips are stale and the servers don't seem happy to be here. Beer is not cold and now I regret having order...

The five star is solely for our server Jason, he was phenomenal! Everything is else was pretty decent too. Prime location, we waited for thirty minutes at the bar area and then were seated on the patio near a heater (they are stationary so if you're sitting far away from one you're screwed. Seriously nothing better than enjoying a margarita and hopefully good company watching the sunset at the beach. The food...it's okay, way too expensive for what they're offering though. The only thing that irked me was some douchebag with an embarrassingly awful neck tattoo and his potty mouth girlfriend that started verbally attacking a busser for not cleaning a table fast enough. Not okay, guess this is the kind of people a tourist trap restaurant draws in. Anyways, if you go there ask for Jason, he's truly wonderful and will make sure you have a great time too. Oh and PS they close way early, 8 on Sundays! So if you're not there on the wait list by like 730 they will turn you away!

The place is very busy since located on the end of the Pier, so we sat at the bar. Bartender was not happy to be there and reflected in his service. Although, he was sick. So I will give him that but needed some personality and friendliness. Socializing with the people that sit at your bar really reflects on service and gratuity. I got the Fajitas. They were... Fajitas.... and nothing really special. Kind of overpriced and i know we were on the pier but not the best I ever had for the price. I had the white Sangria and was pretty good. The glass was about as big as my head and was relatively reasonable in price. Not sure if I'd go back unless I was starving. I did like the Mariachi band and the sun was just setting so was pretty overlooking the water and having the sun go down.

Just eh. Its nothing to seek out. Everything is about $2-3 more than it should be and portions were on the smaller side. If it wasnt for the convenient location near the pier, i bet it wouldnt survive. I ordered the chile rellenos and my husband ordered enchiladas. We both have had better and regretted wasting one of our meals out there, being that we were only spending a few days in the area.

This is by far the worst experience we have ever had, there is nothing good I can say about this restaurant, first of all the hostess sat us by the bar where there is a hole to look to the sea, cool stuff, but she just left the menus on the table and she never realized there was baby high chairs behind our barstools, so I had to move them by myself and she didn't even say anything, then not one but three different guys came in to ask if we need anything or if we were ok, but no one said "I will be taking care of you guys" then to be honest I understand its the pier so I know it will be overpriced, but when you pay a lot to dine in you spect great service and quality food, well here it goes.. First the margaritas, 10 dollara for a super sour mix, then we order but the server never offered an appetizer or a starter, anyways we waited over 40 minutes for our food and the server came in and said there was a problem in the kitchen, my cousin checked in in the yelp app and he got a free guacamole, the server TOOK my cousin's phone to show it to the manager instead of making the manager come to the table, so when we got our food my fiancé's food was cold my daughter's burrito was wrong and me and my cousin's crab enchiladas were salty, I was so mad I ask to talk to the manager, he apologized and said I will give you 20% off, I ask for the bill and we left, WE WENT LATER ON TO THIS RESTAURANT LA HUASTECA IN LA, great experience good food and awesome service, this restaurant is a joke, bad food, bad service and overprice food, NO GOOD

Great food, delicious margaritas, and amazing service. If you stop by make sure to ask for Moses! Friendliest waiter!

Don't get he cucumber margarita! Ick! The jalapeño margarita is pretty good though! Very spicy and lots of flavor. Service is kind of slow, and the food doesn't look very good. Overall, I give it a "meh" only because the location is awesome.

Such a huge disappointment. The location is literally ALL this place has going for it. Oh, and the sangria wasn't bad. The food was terrible. The service was terrible. We waited 20 minutes before even being acknowledged once at our table, at which point a gentleman rudely came us to us and asked us what we wanted. I got the baja style fish tacos, my friend the grilled chicken tostada salad. We shared both. Long story short, we both became sick from the food. The onset of the food poisoning was gradual, but by the next evening we both knew what was up. As an employee of the food service industry, I wouldn't slander a restaurant unless I was absolutely SURE. The place will stay open and business will continue to be great for them, I'm sure. That's what's great for this place- with a location like that you can have nonexistent standards and you will still have great business. Even for a tourist trap though- this place was AWFUL. Although, if you happen to want good (or at least decent) food and service... Skip this place. If you can't resist the locational allure, think of me when your feeling sick the next day. ;)

my husband and I ordered the fajitas, and they were delicious! we checked in while waiting for our food and we received a coupon for free guacamole, our server, Gustavo; went above and beyond with our sitting arrangements (we were inside, and opted to sit outside). overall great service!!

For run of the mill mexican food with one very unique view,I recommend this place..prices for this type food expensive but heck you are on the Santa Monica pier,at the tip of route 66.Service is slow but it gives you plenty of time to take in the spectacular view

Waiter Moises was good waiter. We were seated right away. The manger was a little obnoxious, we could here him directing staff who appeared to be doing a good job. The ambiance is nice and the beer was cold.

I was there yesterday with a friend, we were very hungry so we went here because other places near the Pier was full and we didn't want to wait in line. We ordered What we wanted and the waiter took our order who was friendly. After 10-15 min the waiter brought our food totally different thing that we ordered I can't remember the name but I knew what I ordered, so we called the waiter who was not the same who took our order and we we told him it was not what we ordered, he said he was sorry and he will get is what we wanted, we waited another 15 min which got me bored and tired, the food wasn't great it was ok I can't say everything was bad but I won't come here again just a one time visit place!!

I came here with my boyfriend to relaxing and having fun but after we went this restaurant, the hostess ruined my vacation. She wasn`t listnen customers and doing something else.she was written down something with not serving the customers.also there was another customer came in,she let them to waiting too after that, she almost throw the menu at the table. the hostess was really rude.

Mexican food? I think not. Not only is this unauthentic Mexican food, but I dare say it is a cheap frozen food knockoff! This was HORRIBLE! Let's start with the salsa. A red hot disaster, literally. It was ridiculously spicy. It tasted like a can of tomatoes doused with Frank's Red Hot and Louisiana Hot sauce. There was no distinct flavor or texture to it. After one bite you just wanted to spit it out. Considering that my friend a I were exceptionally hungry, we hoped this "salsa" would be in no way a reflection of their actual meals. Guess again, folks! I ordered a traditional combination plate with two enchiladas, beans and rice. The enchiladas weren't soft. They didn't break apart easily when cut with the side of a fork. I needed to use my butter knife! Once I took a bite, I tasted the "cheese." This was not queso fresco or chedder. This tasted just like cheese wiz or Kraft Mac-n-chesse powdered topping! It was awful. There were very little beans and rice. What little amount there were of both provided no more satiety than the former. My friend, who ordered Chili Relleno, was just as displeased with her meal. The server was very nice and offered us something else. For obvious reasons, we politely declined. I'll try somewhere else to eat when I'm at Santa Monica Pier next.

Overhyped for the location. Went to the restaurant at the end of the pier assuming it was the best. Unfortunately, wrong. Staff were casual but courteous, and the back patio is great, with a nice view of ocean and boardwalk. But the food was way to expensive for a basic mexican salad and not that great. Ordered the shrimp on my salad, which cost considerably more, and they were undercooked- couldn't finish them. I've eaten ceviche all up and down this country and it was just odd here. The texture of the shrimp was rubbery and the flavor was very bland. We paid way to much for seafood on our mexican, and should have just stuck with the enchiladas. Conversely, 2 for 1 tacos at a bar over in Venice was a much better, and tastier deal. Step it up!

Too weird, even if I did just came for the beer. Two girls that shoot photos, dressed in black look completely unprofessional. Look supper creepy. Ones eating a peanut butter and jelly sandwich from a ziplock baggy. Both look so bored to be here, too distracting. I'm here to enjoy my dinner not watch girl drama unfold in front if me. One has a Weird accent. Food was as expected, not too good.

It was a long day of touring Los Angeles, we ended our evening at Santa Monica Pier. We had dinner at Mariasol. A Mexican restaurant on the pier. We arrived at the restaurant at about 7ish. We had 9 people in our party that's 4 adults and 5 children. The place didn't look busy, lots of empty tables, but we were asked to wait for our table. I did question the host why the wait, since there were many empty tables. His reponse was another big party coming in. I didn't realize reservation was recomnended, nevertheless we went ahead waited. Noted that the large party Never came, unless you consider 4 is a large party. 20 minutes later, we got seated. Took awhile for the waiter to get our drink order. The bus boy started serving the chips and salsa. Now while were waiting for our drink we went.through the salsas and chips like there s no Tomorrow. .the chips were so fresh and crunch, and yet we still get our water and poor drinks. We ordered guacamole for our chips. Jose made our guacamole in front of us. The guacamole needed more salt. Otherwise. It was ok. The service was overall ok. Jose and the bus boy became more attentive. They finally brought napkins and silverware. We ceviche for appetizer. That smelt and tasted fishy..nope its not fresh..Jose took it and didn't charge us for the ceviche. My sister had beef enchilada which she let may tasted. Now that was pretty meaty and tasty. The three of us had the fajitas..now that was pretty good. The kids had cheese enchiladas. The little ones finished their dinner so i presumed they were happy with their enchiladas. We all had the Spanish rice and we all agreed the rice was yummy. So overall the food were tasty and yummy. Service was cold initially, but they started to warm towards the evening. Bathroom cleanliness. .hmm needs some help. So overall, this place is a 3

Neat restaurant at the end of the Santa Monica peer. We started off with chips and salsa which were very good...the salsa had a great combination of flavor and spice. We then had either the chicken enchilada or burritos and each had great flavors. The service was very pleasant and quick. I would come back again.

We sat on the patio, and enjoyed the view very much. We also appreciated that they had nice umbrellas at each table so we weren't frying in the sun. The food was very good. We ordered the chili relleno and crispy taco along with the presidente platter. Both were very good... The chili relleno was the best menu item we ordered. The service was good.... Quick and responsive. I'm not a drinker, but we did sit at the bar while we waited to be seated.... I watched the bartender make a strawberry daiquiri that was enormous. The glass was big enough that he poured the entire pitcher in the glass.... It looked fabulous. Very enjoyable!

Food was alright but overpriced. We had about 3 different "waiters" coming to our table so it was hard to get the right one when we needed something. They all seemed to be in a bad mood which is off putting for customers. They were arguing behind us which was really annoying. The only thing that I really enjoyed was the salsa that came with the chips. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. Believe these poor reviews

So, a little over a year later, we decide to give this place another shot because if the prime location facing the ocean. WORST IDEA EVER. This time we actually got seated very quickly, got our drinking, ordered our food (the waiter couldn't seem more uninterested in us or his job) and waited.. And waited, and waited, and waited. To make matters worse our waiter kept coming outside and could see us getting agitated but didn't feel the need to say anything. We waiting some more and realized that people getting seated after us had already paid and gone. We finally asked our waiter what the hold up was and he said "the kitchen is backed up"... The place was half empty and he couldn't stop by our table to let us know? We still waited another 5 minutes listening to our neighboring tables complain about how bad the food was before we finally had enough and started to leave, during which 3 waiters ran over to us to say the food was about to come out now. By this point we no longer had an appetite, or patience, with Marisol's. Such a shame that such a horrible restaurant with bad service sits on some prime real estate. Should have learned from the time before not to return.

We came here just to grab a drink while walking around the Santa Monica Pier. $14 for a margarita that my mother so hilariously described as "peepee water with a straw" lol. My (weak) Bloody Mary was also $14, so that's $28 for two awful drinks. We didn't expect cheap drinks, this being the pier. But for $14 a pop they shouldn't be god-awful, either. The location is nice and the service was good, however. But I'll never return.

This place has awful service. Me and my boyfriend came here on a Saturday night and it took for ever to have the waiter come and ask for our orders. Secondly when finally our orders was taken, it took an hour and a half to receive our food. The waiter was really unatentive and rude. We ended up leaving and just paying for the 2 drinks we had. I asked to speak with the manager and I was told that she was upstairs busy. I never even spoke the the "busy Manager". All the concierge lady told us was "I'm sorry". Well they can shove their I'm sorry up their ass. Please don't come here very shitty service with no remorse.

Sitting out on their deck on the Santa Monica pier, you can almost forgive them for their prices. Drinks are very expensive but they were good. Service wasn't so great, we never did get the waters we asked for. The salsa, nothing special. The chicken mole enchiladas we split were cheaper than my Margarita. A lot more work and product went into the meal than the drink. If the weather wasn't so beautiful, there's no way we would have wasted our time there. And the food, I've had worse. The mole sauce wasn't special either; we know mole, we try it everywhere we go since we travel full time. It was dressed up, bland red enchilada sauce with little or no cinnamon or chocolate. Portions were very small. I could have had a better meal at a meat truck for half the price. Another overpriced restaurant in a beautiful location.

The restaurant itself is beautifully located right off the pier, you get a great ocean view and breeze. We checked in with Yelp and received a complimentary table side guacamole-this was great-fresh with all the traditional Mexican fixins(tomato, onion, jalapeno &lime)! I also had the spicy Michelada, again a great spin on a classic Mexican drink. We also had the shrimp ceviche, now that was just eeeehhhhh, nothing to brag about by any means. Didn't have too much flavor, it seemed like it was prepared with lemon vs lime which made it taste sweet. A Great Ceviche is savory and spicy and full of flavor, none of which I thought this ceviche had, but for $15+ you better add lime and Tapatio to make it somewhat worth your wild. The service was great! The waiters were very attentive, we were served by Jonny he and the crew came back with any additional requests politely and in a timely manner.

This place is wonderful as a location, great sea view from the patio. However the service is terrible, staff is not well trained, doesn't pay attention, and the manager Lisa, loud and entitled. We had the "Tree Amigos" Fajitas - tasteless, missing ingredients with just onions and peppers, extra charge for the sour cream (really). Now to the Cadillac Margaritas, pre made sugar water with a hint of Tequila! We ask to have them to remake and Lisa said: "That's how we make it and that's it, sorry." All I can say to the Owners-Better get your game up!

The restaurant's location is awesome. However, the service was not as awesome. We patiently waited our 20 minute wait. Once called in and seated we did not have a server greet us for probably about 5 to 7 minutes, We just sat there... Once they came to take our drink order, we had already decided what we wanted and ordered. The food was out in a decent amount of time. Drinks were not refilled often, you would have to hunt someone down to get a refill. The restaurant was hot and humid, not much circulation, When it came time to pay our bill, they double charged my card. Once for a totally incorrect amount, much higher than our bill, then for the correct amount. It was brought to their attention, ten minutes later it was "fixed", however they just said OK it's done. Money still isn't back in my account. The food is decent but the service is horrible.

9 dollar margarita was poised right out of the bottle of pre-made margarita into a glass of ice... I saw a server wipe his nose the. Use the same hand to pick up a straw by the tip of it. = disgusting

The margarita and the waves... I would say that if you are in this very busy-popular Pier, Mariasol is one of the best place to spend a few minutes of your afternoon, chill by their patio, margarita in one hand, sunglasses and a chair facing the ocean feeling the ocean breeze and warm afternoon sun, Mariasol can be quite a setting, especially if you are seating at the North end part of the front patio, a great place to catch the sunset, watch the waves, and watch the people enjoying themselves by the shore. As busy as they were, I was surprised how fast we got seated, standard salsa and chips was served a few minutes after we got settled in our lovely spot. Our very cool server (Christopher) took our orders, Margarita's to start with, a Mega Cadillac serving for me, on the rocks no salt - so good, nice-cold and stiff! For the main dish, I ordered the Crab Enchilada, these enchiladas are filled with shredded crabmeat, jalapeno and onion, topped with tomatillo sauce and drizzled with crema mexicana, to be honest I felt this dish fell short for me to recommend, the crab was a little dry thank goodness for the sauce which made it more palatable, the side of black beans and Spanish rice was perfectly done, I liked it. My friend ordered the Chicken Enchilada's De Mole, which after a few bites I would say A MUST HAVE! Two shredded chicken enchiladas blanketed in delicious mole sauce! So good (I should've ordered that one haha) It comes with a side dish of Spanish rice and black beans. Overall, even though the crab enchilada failed to impress, the Enchilada de mole compensated for it, not to mention the wonderful service from their staff and the stiff Mega Cadillac margarita which I really enjoyed. We had such a pleasant experience and definitely would be back. Cheers!

I love this place, their shrimp cocktail is really good and tostada de ceviche with some tapatio and lime (mouth watering) is a must have! I would give it 5 stars but the staff can come off as rude sometimes but the food and margaritas make up for all that

Had lunch here on Saturday with the family. Even though we came at 1:30pm there was still a 30 minute wait. They seated us within the quoted wait though and as far as scenery while you wait you can't beat this place! The interior of the restaurant is decorated with different decorative fish. There are tv's scattered around the place to keep up with the games. We ordered the table side guacamole and nachos for appetizers. Both were good though the guac needed some extra salt. For entrees we had Carne Asada, Veggie Fajitas, and a Kids Meal. Everyone liked their food and we all left very full. Prices were a bit steep but considering your on the Pier you have to expect that. We'd definitely go back.

This place has so much potential... The LOCATION! The food, however, is sub-par. The shrimp ceviche was good, but their carne asada plate was disappointing. The meat seemed poor quality. It looked a bit gray... The worst part was the music. It was blaring, and made us feel on edge. What a pity. For the price, they should provide a nicer, classier experience. As a Mexican, I must give it thumbs down. Come on, guys. This is LA!!! No excuse.

  • Michael P.

I read some of Mariasol's reviews on Yelp prior to stopping by today, and I wasn't sure what to expect. I came here with some co-workers for lunch, and we made a reservation for eight people at noon, so seating was no problem. Our table was right outside of the front door, and other than the awkward umbrella shades leaving some of us in the sun, we enjoyed a great view and nice weather. Our table got two orders of chips and guacamole, and what was really neat was that they prepare the guacamole fresh in front of you. I ordered the grilled chicken and carne asada fajitas with black beans and corn tortillas. Although the quantity of meat on the plate was somewhat sparse (and I'm pretty sure they forgot my corn tortillas) everything was very flavorful and satisfying. Employees were eager to help and were willing to give recommendations for some of the indecisive members of our party All-in-all, we all enjoyed our experience at Mariasol.

Service sucked, you have to often remind them of what your order was. Although the portions were descent, I believe it was still over priced. But I guess it was about location after what we paid for after all...

I came here for a birthday lunch this past weekend and I must admit I was reluctant but obliged based on the fact that it was a birthday and the person whose birthday it was had never been to SanMo pier, so this would naturally be a cool spot to have lunch...right at the end of the pier. Literally, this place is the last place. Like I said, I was scared by the 2.5 stars because for a place to be 2.5 stars, it really has to be disgusting/going out of business. However, when I ate here, I found that people were overly critical. I don't know what they were expecting from this type of place. I man I'm not saying it's the best in the world, but I don't think 2.5 stars is justified. I would argue that this is a 3 star place along with other mexican restaurants of the like (i.e. El Torito). For food, I got the enchilada and chili relleno ($11.95) that comes with rice and beans. The table also got a side of guacamole ($1.75 for a small side). The food was decent. Again, not the best thing ever, but fairly standard mexican for a touristy kind of place. The service was good; they took a picture of us and gave us a free postcard (and tried to sell us some other pictures). Overall, let's be honest, this isn't a zagat-rated, 5 star restaurant, but it's a chill, low-key place if you want a good ambiance. You can't beat the location.

Never eaten here before, but a friend said they had good food so off we go. Wow, must have been a LONG time ago since she went because I thought the food was less than "Ok." We ordered some Guacamole to start, our choices were sauce cup small or extremely large? Nothing in between so if you're hungry, you'll go for a large, but I urge you not to. We were smart and ordered a small because it looked and tasted like they were out of a can. After 20 minutes, our food came out, but we couldn't eat them because they didn't provided us with any utensils. My friend asked me not to mention anything to see how long we have to wait until they noticed. Well, after 5, I didn't want my food to get cold, so I got up and got some from the other tables. My Chile Relleno was bland at best. I didn't even bother to eat the black beans either. I just wanted to leave

Back again after an eventful weekend. The fam bam and I decided to try this place out, because we were hungry as hell, and the hot dog on a stick was to expensive, for just a hot dog on a stick.... When we got there, the hostess was very nice, asked us how many people, and if we wanted to sit inside or outside....we opted for..."whatever"....mistake on my part....they put us inside...next to a roll up door with windows on it, and the sun hitting all of us directly in the face...with no air circulating whatsoever!!! I walked back outside and asked if we could be seated outside...she said "yes, but you have to wait again" No problem, my mistake.... We waited a full 3 minutes!!! When they had our table ready outside...PERFECT! 1 star for that... Once we were seated, we waited for 10 minutes....no water, no chips, no sodas, no waiter, no nothing!!! Finally a waiter named Oscar walks up and introduces himself...nice guy by the way....and brought us the menus....yup!! TEN MINUTES LATER WE GET THE MENUS!! We order our drinks and then our food...we got the kids the kids meals, and my wife and I opted for the Chicken and steak Fajitas meal....with rice and beans...$20 a damn plate for not so much meat!!! NO BUENO!!! I'll post pictures... The main reason I gave this place only 2 stars, isn't for the customer service, Oscar did and excellent job...it was for the amount of food for the price...and....they should have a little bit more pigeon control.....to many damn pigeons flying around while people are eating....It is pricey to eat there, maybe a little less salt on the fajitas would be great...and maybe the portions should be a little bit bigger...I could of gone to the store for 20 dollars and had a full family carne asada at the park with bigger pieces of meat!!

Terrible service! Very rude from the beginning! Will never ever recommend this place to someone who requires a normal amount of customer service. The hostess yelled at people in my group because one of them wanted to sit in the shade. They had some seats outside for people who are waiting to be seated. The person in the group just wanted to move the seat a few inches in the shade and she said "that is our property! You cannot steal it" we decided not to eat here because of her. This happened today around 1pm.

Had dinner here for my mom's birthday this past Saturday (1/17/15). We arrived a little bit before sunset and were seated indoors right next to the window facing the ocean. Gustavo was our waiter. He was pretty cool. Chips & salsa were great; loved the spicy salsa. My brother and I both had a Michelada, which was awesome. We got the complimentary Tableside Guacamole by checking in on Yelp, which was also pretty good. I wish it had a little more kick to it, though. I had the carne asada fajitas, brother had the carne asada, dad had carne asada with lobster, and mom had an enchilada plate with chile relleno. The fajitas were awesome and very flavorful. I had a bite of my brother's medium-rare carne asada and some of my mom's chile relleno. Both were good, as well. I didn't try the Pacific lobster tail, but think it was just okay based on my dad's reaction to it. The girl taking photos was totally gorgeous. I wish I had gotten her name. We ended up getting all five pictures plus the complimentary one. I'd come back if the opportunity presented itself.

I don't understand why this place doesn't have a higher rating. The food is prepared well, the ambiance is fun, and it's on the ocean! ......bonus. The patio is a great place to enjoy the sea breeze and have a nice meal.

Staff was dropping F bombs right in front of my kids. Didn't even flinch when I asked them to watch their language. Manager didn't do anything about it. I called in to ask to speak to someone about it and never got a call back. Clearly they do not care about professionalism. Never going back there.

Very bad service, no napkin and take forever to serve our need when the restaurant not even fill up 1/3... I personally have to stand up go get it myself . The clam chowder kinda salty.... Asking for the check the came back for half an hr later..

You cannot beat this view! We had dinner on the back patio facing the sunset and it was spectacular! I recommend the mango margarita! We had the chicken and beef fajitas. I did not care for the beans or rice (but I am not a big fan of Mexican food---as it often gives me indigestion, which it did this time too.) Overall, I think this Mexican food is overpriced for what it is. The chips were full of oil and salsa was too HOT. If it wasn't for the location, we would not have gone there. I don't know if I will return when there are better restaurants in the area. There were 3 musicians circulating around tables but not while I was eating---but it was cool. Bar area is BUSY with interesting drinks.

The food is good enough but over priced, to be expected at the end of the pier. Our waiter Jose had the personality of Lurch. Andrew stopped by a few times and he was really nice. So very "ok" overall.

This place was the WORST. After a day of the beach and bike riding, my brother and I got really hungry. We headed down to the pier and figured we'd give this place a shot. The service was okay, no real qualms. But the food is horrible. It's watered down, white washed "Mexican" food. No flavor at all. I ordered enchiladas.. they tasted like nothing. And the cheese was still cold and not melted. My brother ordered a burrito and ended up getting sick afterwards.. Basically way too overpriced for what we got. I guess that's what you get when you try and eat near a tourist trap.

I had the fajitas. The portion was fairly generous. The corn tortillas were so dry they broke apart. The chicken was pretty good and the beef was pretty bland. I would call this place average and mediocre.

Party of four. Excellent food, excellent service and excellent atmosphere. Coming from Tucson we know mexican food, this was different from the Sonoran style we are accustomed to, But very good nonetheless.

This place is awesome! Sit at the bar and order the Guac and drink a Michelada. Good food and great service. You may have to wait, but it is worth it.

Here's the run down: Hair in salsa. Birds everywhere. Can do shrimp burritos and tacos but won't put it in a quesadilla. $55 for a 1lb lobster. Long wait to get in. I can go all day. PLEASE AVOID THIS PLACE. Unless you're ballin and don't give a f bout nutn.

First of all, the location is unbeatable. It is the very last restaurant at the end of the pier and they have a wonderful patio that looks out over the end of the pier. The "make your own margarita" option is so much fun, my boyfriend and I made each other margaritas (options for jalapeno, habanero, mange, basil, type of tequila etc.) Both came out delicious and actually had a lot of good tequila in them! The food is good. Do not come here expecting authentic mex, but it is a california mex that certainly does not suck and it way better quality than say a Del Taco. If you are going to be on the pier and want to catch a sunset of just enjoy good weather, I would definitely recommend :)

We come here every year and this restaurant never disappoints. The atmosphere is great and the food is delicious. The waiter we had today was very attentive and he kept the drinks coming when it was running low. He was also kind enough to offer us a free dip of guacamole which he made in front of us, which my boyfriend loved. So anytime you come here ask for Jonny, he is an amazing waiter.

The salsa is about the only thing good at this place. Shrimp and fish tacos came with unseasoned fish or shrimp, cabbage, and the only guess I have for their "Baja sauce" is what I would consider mayonnaise. Shrimp and fish were not fresh and very fishy tasting. Everything was bland and definitely not fresh.

The food here is good, the view fantastic, and for the pier location it's not too pricey if you stick with burritos or enchiladas. Service was acceptable, but could be a tad friendlier and quicker. Sat on the patio and had an awesome view of the ocean. I'll return.

This place makes a great margarita! The food is just ok, but nots not great, not bad. Right in the middle. Its at the end of the Santa Monica pier, so the beach eye candy makes up for not having the best cuisine. Did I mention they make a slammin margarita? I got hammered here on my birthday one year. I drank a whole pitcher of you guessed it... MARGARITAS!!!! That was one of my most fun birthdays, so Mariasol will always hold a special place in my lil heart.

One of the best guacamole we ever had! We actually came twice for it and of course some Margaritas! And if you want the perfect combination of guacamole with great service, ask for Jonny!

My Bloody Mary was outstanding! We sat at the bar and the service was awesome. Did not eat anything but my boyfriend had the clam chowder and loved it.

Worst place I've ever been to. Visiting from Texas, I thought you'd get a friendly vibe in this place -but boy was I wrong! The larger hispanic server that worked outside was the meanest person we've encountered in my life. I wanted to throw up so bad he was so mean. We sat inside to avoid the heatwave and It felt like he threw a little fit... He probably thought since we all looked asian I would not of understood spanish, because boy was he talking that CRAP ABOUT US. I have 7 people in my table that sat by the bar, they did not take care of us at all and made us feel so uncomfortable. As a business owner myself, I would never put my feelings over my customer at all. I REALLY HOPE the business owner makes themselves aware of this situation. If everyone in Santa Monica could see this review, PLEASE AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS! In honesty, No thanks, Mariasol. TEN THUMBS DOWN!

Would never eat at this place again. Our Server was rude. Took forever to bring us napkins... Forks etc. Food was not good at all and very pricey. When we were ready to go waiter brought us our check and insisted on how much his tip should be. Patio needs to be updated, tables nearly knocking drinks over from floor being uneven. Att: Owner.... Your staff needs Customer Service big time!!!

I went with my girlfriend last week after hitting up the beach. We were in the mood for margaritas and some mexican food to match up. We started with the guacamole which was great, super fresh, spicy and set things off right. We tried their cucumber margaritas which are really refreshing tasty and had a nice quick to them. They weren't weak and over sweet. We had two rounds and were feeling superb when we left. Then we ordered the carne asada plate with rice and beans. The meat was good, well seasoned and not too dry. We also had a chicken burrito with the works. Everything was hot, made to order, flavorful, tasty and were nicely sized portions. Out server Enrique was awesome! Super nice and helpful, he recommended the margaritas and the carne asada, which were our favorite things. Orlando stopped by to see how everything was going and brought us some extra guacamole and salsa which was super nice. The was fantastic!! definitely will come back next time we hit the beach!

food was great, atmosphere was great and inviting, and our server (Jonny) was very kind, helpful, and on point with service. He got us a table outside even though we were already seated at the bar and moved an umbrella to create shade for me and my girlfriend. He was always there whenever we needed something.

Service was terrible! Our waitress didn't seem to have it altogether and it took forever to get our check! I actually walked out of the restaurant and threw my money on the table. Food wasn't really that great but the baja mojitos were good. I understand they were busy but when a table asks for their check, don't wait a half hour to get or to them and when told to split it up in the beginning....pay attention!

The only reason to come here is for the ambiance. While the service was good when we dined in, everything is really pricey and the food is average. There are so many better places to get great Mexican food in L.A. Save your money and just have a picnic on the beach!

Service was okay. The horchata was white like milk and tasted horrible!!!! I would never bring anyone here. They really need to step up and learn how to service better and all we had was nachos that wAs pretty good but I'd never come back here again! Too many other choices besides this place.

The food was great! The service was great also! Our server was amazingly helpful. Thanks sindy for the amazing service. Me and my wife would certainly go back if sindy was our server again. All the other servers look like they hate their jobs.

My stomach, it bubbles just thinking about the harrowing experience this restaurant put it through. I went one day with my boyfriend and we sat down at a table inside. So far, so good. I ordered a drink, it looked and tasted yummy... so far, so good. The next thing I know, I'm looking down at my glass, and a fly is standing INSIDE it, staring back at me. I have no idea how it got there, it must like to swim, because it was halfway down my drink. Standing inside the glass. So I'm like, "hey," to the waiter, "There's a fly inside my drink..." She's apologetic and quickly goes to get me another one. Fine, a fly went for a dive in my booze. Fair enough. Then my boyfriend goes, "hey... don't look now, but there's about 40 flies buzzing around behind you..." Of course, at the behest of human nature, I looked. And there it was, a cloud of black dots, buzzing fervently in circles before my eyes - probably daring one another to be the next to dive into some unsuspecting customer's drink. I don't think I would have been unreasonable in getting up immediately and proceeding elsewhere for sustenance, but against my better judgment, I opted to stay. And the food was agreeable to my taste buds. It wasn't, however, agreeable to my stomach. :( Needless to say, this tale had an unhappy ending (for both I and the fly) and I will not be returning for Part 2. Ever.

This place is dirty and has ok service, the wait time is over 25 minutes & nothing is organic, it's more of a single guy bar with old TV, food is ok, but I would not trust them!

We're all L.A. natives and don't usually do the touristy thing but we decided to make an exception. Mistake! I had read the Yelp reviews and warned the others in my party of four (three adults and one child) not to expect anything great. Even with the lowest of low expectations, Mariasol was a disappointment. It's unfortunate that the food at this restaurant is as tasteless as it is because the staff is so nice and the restaurant in a prime location. We sat outside on a beautiful day and not long after we arrived, there was a line to get in the place. The manager Pete, repeatedly came to our table and asked if everything was OK with our food. Unfortunate, it was not. Two of the people in my party had ordered the crab enchiladas and both requested another dish, which they ate but still did not enjoy. My grilled fish taco was edible but lacked flavor. I asked Pete when the fish was caught and he assured me it was fresh. Picking up on my lackluster feeling, he recommended a sauce he loves and had it sent to the table. That was very kind of him. Again, no problems with service. While the sauce helped, food shouldn't have to be drowned in a sauce. The guacamole was prepared table side so we were able to have a say-so in the taste. The chips were not horrible or great. Just meh. No complaints with the Cadillac margarita. Hooray for that! The bathroom was decent but the last thing I want to see are mops in the corner and the toilet brush on display in the stall. But at least they're being used. Maybe Mariasol doesn't have another gear to kick it up a notch. If it is giving it its best shot, it needs to give up the lease and allow a restaurant there that will make Santa Monica proud. It's a pity that it does the business that it does and under delivers. A few hours after our meal, my brother was still complaining about it. He said we should have gone to Taco Bell and brought our food to the pier since we all wanted to enjoy the gorgeous day. $140 wasted.

This place doesn't like white people please read. My girlfriend and I tried to stop in and dine here. It was 10 till 6pm. We were pushed back out the door by a portly hostess stating they are closed. The deck where diners can sit outside is right next to the front door where we were shoved out of. I could see two tables looking at their menus, and a third table was just getting their drinks. I pointed this out and she said "sorry". So we stood there for a second gathering ourselves, everyone inside and outside were Latino's. We could only surmise we were not the correct skin color. I live in Phoenix directly in the middle of little mexico, and I support the local Mexican stores and restaurants. Here in Phoenix we all get along, and I love the Latin culture and they are VERY hospitable here. Don't even get me started on Mexican women, they are sensual and hot! Marisol's has erased my image of Mexican cuisine and culture for lower California. It's very disgusting. I going to take this to Nancy Grace! So we walked to the other end of the dock and gave our gringo denaros to Bubba Gumps restaurant. After we finished eating our meals at Bubba's we walked to the end of the pier for some photo ops. Needless to say the deck at Mariasol still had diners. This review will fall on deaf ears. This is a tourist trap during the day, and "Latino's" only at night. They will make their money hand over fist, and walk this review off. But They missed out on a quick money. WoW! Shame on this place. Marisol's is a disgusting establishment and should be avoided at all costs. In a time where skin color should be a thing of the past, as this isn't the 50's they should be more sensitive towards other cultures to which they depend on for their livelihoods. The world is small and we are all cut from the same fabric, we are truly a global community, we just happen to have different shades and dialect. Doesn't make one race better then the other. We could all definitely learn from each others cultures. To bad Marisol's is a closed minded restaurant. Just checked the hours of operation, they close at 8 pm. today This place is obviously racists and they don't like white people?

The food is just alright. If it wasn't at the end of the pier it wouldn't be in business anymore I guess. My waitress was nice but the other wait staff were pretty rude and seemed generally unhappy to be here... Free guac when you check in helped them get a 3rd star :)

We had a great evening at Marisol. The location at the tip of the Santa Monica Pier can't be beat. The architecture is so unique and the interior design is fun with a palatial flair. I had a simple enchilada and chili relleno combo with beans and rice. It was tasty and the portion was huge. Definitely could have been a meal for two. I didn't go for the fancy margarita, although they had quite a few options and did push for the upsell. Our waiter was fabulous, though, with his thick, demure accent and flattering banter. We had quite a few laughs. This place is pricey, no doubt, but that's to be expected - at the end of a carnival like pier over a gorgeous beach in an outrageously expensive town? Yeah, tourist trap of the most obvious kind. My advice - order simple, share a meal, get a plain-jane cocktail. You really can't beat the view!

All we wanted is the romantic dinner on the Pacific ocean...the sunset and margaritas..too much to ask? My margarita was watered down to the point of complete virginity. Blah. My seafood burrito was a tasteless mesh of overcooked shrimp and crab which were pre-frozen last year catch (when I asked not to put onions the server informed me that it was all pre-mixed!),my boyfriend's coconut shrimp was good but the sauce was killing it. And finally - this absolutely loose moderately obese pigeon flew up to our salsa and landed his paw in it, proving what was already obvious - this generic crap was for the birds! Regardless, you can totally feed me garbage I will eat it as long as I am looking into crystal blue eyes of the ocean eating it and ...my company is paying for the dinner.

Guy was working christmas and was very pleasant. Extra star for the extra "love" in the margie (saw you go back that extra time, thanks!); minus a star for the 10 dollar house marg price point. Didn't try the food.

The employees here have the worst customer service ever! Not once did I see any of them smile or appear to be happy. You would think since they work right near the ocean they would be thrilled! It took our waiter 30 minutes to get our credit card from us. And we kept getting ignored by the waiter so we had to ask a bus boy to get him for us. I didn't leave a tip and even wrote something rude on the receipt. I will never eat here again. Everyone is rude including the host at the front.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
